Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say early analysis indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the attack left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
